Who We Are
The BIG Lesson is an immersive study trip for elementary children that spans five consecutive days at a community site. Students, teachers, and parents work with experts, engage in observation and conduct student-driven research. Teachers participate in professional development sessions in which they correlate the core curriculum with real world learning. This interdisciplinary, problem-based approach to teaching and learning provides an innovative tool to connect with the community for learning in the real world.
Our Programs
Since 1998, The BIG Lesson has engaged Michigan students, teachers, parents, and community members in immersive learning experiences in four different program offerings.
